UNIVERSIADI DEL TRADING - UNIVERSITY TRADING CHAMPIONSHIP 2012



This document summarises the operational aims and methods for the University Trading Championship 2012, the third edition of the inter-university on-line trading championship using real funds and promoted by Directa S.i.m.p.a. together with Borsa Italiana S.P.A. and some partner banks.

Profile of Directa
Directa, a brokerage company founded in Turin in 1995 that then began operations in March 1996 and was Italy's first on-line trading broker. Its mission was to enable private individuals to operate in financial markets directly from their PCs, with immediate order execution and low transaction costs.

Its customer base comprises very active investors who, thanks to Directa, can operate via Internet on the Milan Stock Exchange (shares, derivatives and bonds) and other international markets, among which the NYSE, NASDAQ, CME, EUREX, LIFFE, Frankfurt's XETRA and London's Chi-X.

Directa's easy-to-use and reliable on-line trading system will operate efficiently from any PC, PDA, iPhone, iPad and telephone capable of navigating in Internet.

Brief overview of the venture
This competitive venture gives students the opportunity to operate on financial markets by means of on-line trading.
Duration: 12 March 2012 - 5 October 2012.
Teams can register within 30 April 2012.

It is open to students born after 31 December 1984 and enrolled in a degree course at any European university faculty or equivalent school at university level. Each faculty or school may only enter one team.

Each team will be equipped - free of charge - with the Directa platform, the Visual Trader technical analysis package and 5,000 euros in real funds, which thanks to leverage will enable them to invest up to 25,000 euros.

Gains net of commissions and taxes will be divided among the winning team members, whereas any losses will be borne by Directa. No assignments or withdrawals may be made until the Championship is over.
The winner of the University Trading Championship will be the team that has achieved the best performance by 5 October 2011.

Directa will award the reference tutor of the winning team the sum of 20,000 euros, utilisable for didactic and/or research purposes.
A tutor will be appointed for each faculty/school involved to act as the contact point between Directa and the faculty/school concerned (for more details see the paragraph "Tutor's tasks").
